Shopping, Wineries, Glass Making...

Are you looking for some relaxing activities more suited for a fun afternoon out that does not involve the outdoors? We have just the right options within driving distance of our cabins!

Wellsboro Shopping- For a small, quaint village, Wellsboro has a surprising array of nice shops, restaurants and places to meet and greet the locals. There are also two very nice markets for food shopping, and excellent hospital should the need arise. There are very few "chain" eateries, and most of the gastronomic offerings are from "mom and pop" eateries that have been in Wellsboro for decades.

Finger Lakes Wineries- Finger Lakes Wine Country, New York is home to more than 100 wineries, breweries and distilleries centered around Keuka, Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. In addition, many of the beverage producers are also members of their repesctive wine and beer trails which host year-round wine and food weekend events. The Finger Lakes is a wrold-class wine producing region that specializes in aromatic white varieties like Riesling and Gewurtzraminer. The region is also finding exciting success with cool-climate reds like Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. The terroir of the Finger Lakes is special because of the microclimate created by the lakes- extreme cold weather in the winter is avoided and warm, breezy days during the summer help ripen the grapes.

Corning Museum of Glass-The Corning Museum of Glass cares for and displays the world’s best collection of art and historical glass. When you visit, you’ll see more than 3,500 years of history displayed in the Glass Collection Galleries, from the glass portrait of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh to contemporary sculpture made in glass. You can learn about the science and technology behind innovations in glass through hands-on exhibits in ourInnovation Center. There, you can explore the concepts behind optics, vessels, and windows, and meet the innovators who have changed our world using glass.
